Formula One Announces Pre-Season Testing

By  |

This was announced in October 2016 but scarcely registered with the Formula One community which was focused on the drivers’ championship at the time. But to refresh our memory, F1 pre-season testing will be permitted over a two-week period beginning late this month.

Session One will take place from February 27th through March 2nd, while Session Two will be run from March 7th through March 10th. The combined period for this testing will be for eight days. Since there are numerous technical regulation changes mandated by F1 for 2017, this is a very tight schedule for the ten teams expected to compete this year.

As has become customary, the testing will take place in Spain, at the Circuit de Barcelona – Catalonia in Montmelo.

The Formula One season opens on March 26 with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
