Matt Mills to Debut at Phoenix

By  |

The XFINITY Series is all about making drivers known, hence the slogan “names are made here”, as well as introducing fans to new faces. The trend will continue this weekend as Matt Mills will be making his XFINITY Series debut in Saturday’s DC Solar 200.

The Lynchburg, Virginia native will drive the No. 8 Thompson Electric Chevrolet for BJ McLeod Motorsports in the event at Phoenix International Raceway.

Mills enters the second-tier of NASCAR after spending time on the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. He made four NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts last year, with a best finish of 21st at Phoenix last November.

“I am very excited to not only be back racing this year, but to be making my first start in the NASCAR XFINITY Series for BJ McLeod Motorsports,” commented Matt Mills. “I can’t thank Thompson Electric and BJ McLeod for the opportunity they’ve presented me with for this weekend. I’m looking forward to the rest of the season with them but super excited to start off this weekend at my favorite track, Phoenix International Raceway.”

Beyond this weekend, the team announced that Mills will compete in “several other races” throughout this year in the XFINITY Series.
