The NASCAR community is mourning the passing of Robert Yates, who died Monday after a lengthy battle with liver cancer. He was 74 years old.

Yates, one of the sport’s greatest engine builders and team owners, had a career that earned him a spot in the NASCAR Hall of Fame Class of 2018. But more than just the races and championships Yates won, he was one of those rare individuals who was admired, respected and beloved in the NASCAR community.

Yes, Yates built great horsepower under the hood of his Fords and he was truly a great guy. Tuesday morning, the NASCAR community took to social media to share their thoughts on a legend’s great contributions to the sport.
